Your Visual Arts Journal or VAJ is a sketchbook containing all of your investigations into artists and mediums. It is a book to record your thoughts and experiments, your trials and errors. It is a place to work out sketches and concepts for the artwork you will create in class. The thoughts, sketches and experiments in this journal will be used in your Process Portfolio. It is essential to keep running documentation of your artistic research and process in your VAJ.

 

 

What do you need to purchase for your VAJ? This is your personal journal. I do not restrict the type of sketchbook you purchase...HOWEVER...hardbound or spiral bound is best. Where can you purchase a sketchbook? Michael's, JoAnn Fabrics, any art supply store, Walmart, or online! Depending on how much space you fill, you may need more than one VAJ throughout your enrollment in this course.
